Jesús Alcalá Fernández

Jesús Alcalá Fernández nació en Lucena (Córdoba) en 1979. Obtuvo el título de Ingeniero y de Doctor en Informática por la Universidad de Granada en los años 2002 y 2006 respectivamente. Desde 2005 a 2007, fue profesor del departamento de Informática de la Universidad de Jaén, y desde 2007 es profesor del departamento de Ciencias de la Computación e Inteligencia Artificial de la Universidad de Granada (siendo profesor titular desde el 2012), donde es miembro del grupo de investigación «Soft Computing and Intelligent Information Systems» (SCI2S, TIC-186), del Instituto Andaluz Interuniversitario en Data Science an Computational Intelligence (DaSCI), y del centro de investigación en Tecnologías de la Información y de las Comunicaciones(CITIC-UGR).

Ha recibido varios premios a lo largo de su carrera investigadora como el Premio a los Trabajos de Excelencia de la Universidad de Granada o el de la Asociación Española para la IA a los mejores trabajos de investigación. Sus intereses de investigación se centran en el aprendizaje automático evolutivo, la minería de datos, el descubrimiento de asociaciones, la bioinformática, la lógica difusa, la explicabilidad de la inteligencia artificial, y el desarrollo de herramientas software de libre distribución. Su actividad investigadora queda respaldada por un número alto de publicaciones en las mejores revistas de las áreas de investigación en las que trabaja y por el número de citas que estas han obtenido. En la actualidad tiene un índice-h de 22 y más de 3500 citas según la Web of Science y un índice-h de 27 y más de 6400 citas según Google Scholar, lo que demuestra que estas publicaciones han producido un cierto impacto en la comunidad investigadora.

El es o ha sido miembro del comité editorial de revistas internacionales como IEEE Transactions on Fuzzy Systems, Mathematics, Advances in Fuzzy Systems, y es miembro del comité de “referees” de otras tantas revistas ISI como Fuzzy Sets and Systems, IEEE Transactions on Fuzzy Systems, Information Sciences, entre otras. Además, Jesús fue Chair entre 2011 y 2017 y es Vice-Chair desde 2017 de la Task Force sobre Fuzzy Systems Software del Fuzzy Systems Technical Committee de la IEEE Computational Intelligence Society.

En 2020 ha sido incluido en el listado de investigadores «World Scientist: World´s Top 2% Scientists” publicado en la prestigiosa revista Plos Biology en la que se recoge la elite mundial en el mundo de la investigación científica.
