📅 December 3–4, 2025
📍 UGR-AI Building, University of Granada

Artificial intelligence is evolving at a remarkable pace, and with it come new challenges that demand thoughtful analysis and innovative proposals. With this goal in mind, “Generative & Agentic AI: The Next Challenges” is conceived as an Ideas Laboratory (ThinkTank)—a dedicated forum for exchanging knowledge and generating solutions around the pressing issues of generative and agentic AI, especially in relation to cybersecurity.

This event is part of the Strategic Project IAFER-Cib (C074/23), arising from the collaboration agreement between the National Cybersecurity Institute (INCIBE) and the University of Granada, within the framework of Spain’s Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, funded by the European Union (NextGenerationEU).

What is this ThinkTank?

It is an independent, multidisciplinary forum that brings together experts from technology, policy, economics, jurisprudence, and data science to analyze current challenges, generate knowledge, and propose evidence-based solutions. The target audience includes academics, researchers, companies, and technology centers seeking to understand and anticipate the impact of AI on society and cybersecurity.

Over two days, the ThinkTank will host talks, debates, and roundtables featuring leading international specialists, addressing key topics such as model explainability, agentic AI, responsibility and safety in educational contexts, and the development of open, trustworthy systems.

Program and Featured Speakers

📅 December 3

  • Opening and Institutional Welcome
Francisco Herrera (DaSCI-UGR, Spain), an international reference in trustworthy and ethical AI.
  • Natural Language Analytics with Generative Large-Language Models
Paulo Novais (University of Minho, Portugal), expert in natural language analytics and LLM applications.
  • Towards More Human XAI: Counterfactuals, Uncertainties, and LLM Explanations
Rafael Bello and María M. García (Santa Clara, Cuba), researchers in explainable AI and robust modeling.
  • Roundtable: Reliable general-purpose AI. Security issues
With Isaac Triguero, Victoria Luzón, Natalia Díaz, Francisco Herrera, and Sergio Damas (DaSCI-UGR), discussing ethical and technical issues in generative AI.

📅 December 4

  • Agentic AI and the BESSER Platform: Applications in Education and LLM Testing
Renzo de Giovanni (LIST, Luxembourg), specialist in AI for educational environments and model evaluation.
  • Why Should We Build Open-Source SML for Children and Specific Domains—With Explainability as a Core Challenge?
Francisco Herrera (DaSCI-UGR), on the need for explainable, safe, and responsible AI.
  • Roundtable and Conclusions
Discussion on how to move forward on the challenges raised and strengthen international collaboration among UGR, LIST, UMinho, USCLV, USL, and UPM.

A Space for Innovation and Collaboration

This ThinkTank goes beyond reflection: it aims to produce reports, studies, and academic articles, as well as practical recommendations for policymakers, industry, and international organizations. The forum maintains an independent, objective stance, grounded in solid data and evidence, and promotes collaboration with national and international institutions to exchange knowledge, share resources, and broaden its impact on public policy and scientific debate.

The initiative seeks to generate synergies that outlast the event itself, fostering knowledge transfer from academia to industry and technology, and contributing to the development of AI that is safer, more ethical, and more trustworthy.

This event is part of the Strategic Project IAFER-Cib (C074/23), resulting from the collaboration agreement between the National Cybersecurity Institute (INCIBE) and the University of Granada. This initiative is carried out within the framework of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, funded by the European Union (Next Generation EU).
