The SintonIA podcast episode recorded during the Desgranando Ciencia 2025 event featured three outstanding guests:
- Emilio García, Head of Communication and Outreach at the Institute of Astrophysics of Andalusia (IAA-CSIC), who also gave a talk titled “Ann Hodges’ Black Swan.” In it, he recounted the unusual case of a woman struck by a meteorite in 1954, using this story as a metaphor to discuss improbable yet significant events in science and science communication.
- Ana Tamayo, Communication Manager for the EU-JAMRAI project (a European initiative against antimicrobial resistance), who participated alongside Víctor Aníbal in the talk “This Is Not the Panacea. Stories of Resistance.” Their presentation addressed the issue of antibiotic resistance from a human and outreach perspective, emphasizing the role of communication in raising public awareness.
- Ruth Sampedro, Granada tour guide and cultural science communicator, who presented “Engranado Ciencia: Automata in al-Ándalus.” Her talk connected the history of technology in Andalusian Granada with modern science, showing how automata were more than mechanical curiosities—they were symbols of knowledge and power.
This special episode of SintonIA offered a blend of science, history, public health, and culture, all delivered in an accessible and engaging format as part of the Desgranando Ciencia 10 event, held at the Parque de las Ciencias de Granada on May 16 and 17, 2025.
The podcast’s participation in Desgranando Ciencia is part of the outreach efforts of the project “Ethical, Responsible, and General-Purpose Artificial Intelligence: Applications in Risk Scenarios (IAFER)” (Ref.: TSI-100927-2023-1), funded through the creation of university-business chairs (Cátedras Enia), aimed at the research, development, dissemination, and training in artificial intelligence within the framework of the European Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, funded by the European Union – Next Generation EU.
