Targets of this Goal

By 2030, it is necessary to achieve the following targets:

Achieve higher levels of economic productivity through diversification, technological modernization and innovation
Promote policies aimed at development, the creation of decent jobs, entrepreneurship, creativity and innovation
Achieve full and productive employment and decent work for all women and men, including youth and persons with disabilities
Significantly reduce the proportion of young people who are not employed and do not study or receive training
Maintain economic growth per capita

AI in its various methodologies is postulated as a highly effective tool in the fight against violence and crime, providing technological support for crime surveillance, prevention and prediction

AI represents an opportunity to improve universal access to justice, providing telematic judicial consultation methods, judicial support / aid systems, and facilitating judicial procedures in poorly cohesive territories through communication infrastructures.

The application of AI to fight crime can induce bias towards certain individuals or groups, generating discrimination and breaching the Principle of Presumption of Innocence, among others.

AI in conjunction with the data reported on the network can be a tool for the intentional free-will manipulation for various purposes, which makes it difficult for individuals to act independently and for societies to achieve the ideal of freedom, justice, and peace.

R16.1 - Machine Learning as a support tool for anticipating crime incidence and improving security response

Justice and social peace are closely related to crime and violence rates, the prediction of which is key to security management. The use of machine learning techniques together with efficient data management will make systems capable not only of predicting the incidence of crime but also of interpreting the evidence to anticipate and deter its occurrence, as a security model.

R16.2 - Safe and reliable institutions through the use of Blockchain to prevent institutional corruption, both publicly and privately

It has been shown in previous facts that institutional corruption is the source of other forms of derived crime and the reason for bankruptcies, poor functioning of institutions and social poverty. Blockchain, due to its decentralized and incorruptible data management capacity, opens the door to an era of massive telematic management of the economy, social affairs and politics, with special emphasis on security and institutional reliability for public entities and private. This, together with a higher prevalence of electronic payment and the use of cryptocurrencies, would promote a society with lower rates of corruption.

R16.3 - Combination of AI techniques with other technological solutions (drones, IoT, etc.) as integrated tools for the fight against crime

R16.4 - Self-adaptive expert systems for judicial processing as support for the integration of the judicial system for citizens

Judicial procedures are complex contexts where it is easy for the least favoured sectors to be at a disadvantage. The use of expert systems can help these sectors to obtain a first approach to legal services, from legal consulting to telematic support to judicial processes for which the following must be ensured: (1) a uniform assessment and quality; (2) the use of good practices; and (3) information transparency, for which a justice with support in the use of data is fundamental.
