In this episode of SintonIA, Rocío and Francisco find out that two Nobel Prizes related to Artificial Intelligence have been awarded. On the one hand, the Nobel Prize in Physics has been awarded to John Hopfield and Geoffrey Hinton for their contributions to the development of artificial neural networks. On the other hand, the Nobel Prize in Chemistry has been awarded to David Baker, Demis Hassabis and John Jumper for their advances in using AI to unlock the secrets of proteins, including the development of the AlphaFold model. The presenters analyse the controversy generated by the fact that these prizes have been awarded to researchers who do not come directly from the disciplines of physics and chemistry, and decide to interview Tino Krell, a researcher at the Zaidín experimental station who has been working on protein structure since the 1990s, to find out his opinion on the justification for these awards.
