VII Bioinformatics Workshop

20 February, 2023

#Training #Event

Aimed at the entire university community and open to organizations, centers, companies, researchers, vocational training students, etc., who are interested in the subject.

Through the different scheduled presentations, the aim is to give an overview of the subject as well as practical applications of Computer Science within the area of Bioinformatics (application of A.I. and statistical techniques, plant bioinformatics, transcriptomics, A.I. applied to medicine, etc.), which highlight the need to have some training on computing in this field. These conferences are not intended to be a simple act of scientific dissemination, but also a training, professional and business orientation, as well as for entrepreneurship. The conference will be attended by speakers from bioinformatics and new technologies companies such as PerkinElmer, Atos and the Medina Foundation, all of them with a wide international relevance.

Registration is free by completing the form available on the conference website https://viijornadas.ugrbioinformatics.com/.

These conferences are open, of massive participation, free, and of great general interest as demonstrated by the various media that echo them every year (NovaCiencia, GranadaHoy, CanalUGR, etc). During these days a series of lectures are given to the attendees by internationally renowned researchers and professionals. The objective of these conferences is to give an overview of the subject, as well as to show practical applications. These conferences are not intended to be a simple act of scientific dissemination, but also a professional and business orientation, as well as to strengthen the spirit of entrepreneurship. A certificate of attendance will be provided at the end of the event.

There are also 3 free on-line workshops available that will be carried out using the Google tools available for the UGR. They will be provided with a certificate of the workshops they have completed.

In addition, a Datathon is organized with 2 prizes of 800 € sponsored by the international company PerkinElmer, to reward the best TFM on bioinformatics in the academic category and in the industrial category that has been defended in the year 2022 in any university of the national territory. The rules of the Datathon are available at https://viijornadas.ugrbioinformatics.com/datathon.
