He was born in Jódar (Jaén) in 1983. He has been a lecturer in Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence since 2017 and has been teaching since 2016 at the School of Informatics and Telecommunications at the University of Granada. He is a member of the research group “Soft computing and intelligent information systems”.
He has received the University of Granada-Caja Rural de Granada Award for Research Excellence 2017 to the best publication in the area of Technical Sciences, the Andrew P. Sage 2016 Award for the best article published in the journal IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics: Systems, and the Herbert Simon 2014 Award for the best article published in the Journal of Information Technology and Decision Making. His research focuses on topics related to computational intelligence, digital libraries, web quality assessment, fuzzy logic, computing with words, multi-criteria group decision making, and bibliometrics, in which he has published more than 40 papers in international journals and more than 70 papers in national and international conferences.
He is associate editor of the international Journal of Intelligent and Fuzzy Systems, member of the editorial board of the international Journal of Universal Computer Science, and member of the review board of other international journals such as Fuzzy Sets and Systems, IEEE Transactions on Fuzzy Systems and Information Sciences.
According to Clarivate Analytics’ Web of Science, his scientific production has received more than 2700 citations, presenting an H index of 24. In 2018, 2019 he has been identified by Clarivate Analytics as one of the Highly Cited and most influential Researchers in his field, currently presenting 15 highly cited works according to Clarivate Analytics’ Essential Science Indicators.
